moving

.what moves you?

easter is a joyous and important occassion for many christians all over the world. in this part of the world, i was not expecting much for my first easter outside of home. nothing compares to the sight, sound and theatrics of how asia's predominantly catholic country celebrates easter.

i was surprised and moved with the quite calm of the easter celebration in IHM (singapore). somehow, flickering candles moved me to reflect on the light it represent amidst the darkness that envelopes your sorroundings. hope permeates from every corner, as it is the true essence of the celebration.

for ten years, i've witnessed the lighting of the Pascal Candle from the choir loft of the Baguio Cathedral. the tourists' presence in the city notwithstanding, the ritual still managed to be solemn and still left imprints on my memory.
but what really moved me six years ago was the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. there was a time when i wasn't in the choir loft but with the throng below when the Blessed Sacrament was paraded before finally resting in the Altar of Repose. It passed behind me, and i felt a rush of emotions---some i could define, some i couldn't. i could only remember that it was one very humbling experience for me. i can only imagine how it would feel when i finally reach the end of my journey and [hopefully] see Him face to face.
